Recurring billing, powered by Clover

Run subscriptions on your Clover account

Meal plans, coffee subscriptions, memberships, weekly boxes, retainers — bill them automatically on the same Clover account that runs your counter. The official Clover plugin can't do recurring; CloverWoo can.

Saved cards (tokenised by Clover)

Customers' cards are tokenised through Clover's PCI-compliant flow and reused for each renewal — your site never stores raw card data.

Automatic renewals

Charges run on the WooCommerce Subscriptions schedule — daily, weekly, monthly, annually — with no manual invoicing.

Failed-payment retries

Declined renewals follow your retry rules and move to on-hold if they ultimately fail, so churn isn't silent. Pair with notifications to catch it instantly.

Plan changes & cancellations

Upgrades, downgrades, switches and cancellations follow standard WooCommerce Subscriptions behaviour, with the next charge adjusted.

Region note: recurring billing is most robust for US/Canada Clover accounts. Clover restricts card-on-file in some European markets, so confirm saved-card support for UK/EU/AU accounts before relying on subscriptions. Sync, payments, ordering, and auto-print are unaffected.

Test your first renewal before you go live

Recurring billing is where small misconfigurations get expensive. Our guide walks through tokenisation, the retry/grace settings, proration on plan changes, and exactly what to test in staging before you switch live renewals on. Read the complete setup guide →

FAQ

Subscriptions — FAQ

Does CloverWoo work with WooCommerce Subscriptions?

Yes. CloverWoo's payment gateway supports WooCommerce Subscriptions — it stores a Clover payment token for the customer (saved card) and charges renewals automatically on schedule, so meal plans, memberships, boxes, and retainers bill without manual work.

Where are the cards stored — is it PCI-safe?

Card details are tokenised by Clover via its hosted, PCI-compliant flow. Your WordPress site never stores raw card numbers; it stores a Clover token tied to the customer, which is what's used to charge each renewal.

What happens when a renewal payment fails?

Failed renewals follow your WooCommerce Subscriptions retry rules — the renewal is retried on a schedule and the subscription is placed on-hold if it ultimately fails, so you don't silently lose revenue. With Discord/notification wiring you can also be alerted the moment a renewal declines.

Can customers change or cancel their plan?

Yes. Plan switches, upgrades/downgrades, and cancellations follow standard WooCommerce Subscriptions behaviour, with the next charge adjusted accordingly. Customers can manage their subscription from their account area.

Does subscription support work in every country?

It's most robust for US/Canada Clover merchants. Clover restricts card-on-file / pre-authorisation in some European markets, so saved-card recurring billing may be limited for UK/EU accounts — confirm with your Clover account before relying on subscriptions. Sync, payments, ordering, and auto-print work regardless of region.
