Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → Clover and switch it on. Card fields appear at checkout, hosted by Clover, so card numbers never touch your site.
- Capture — on by default: the card is charged when the order is placed. Switch it off to authorise only, then capture from the order screen when you ship.
- Apple Pay — off by default. It needs Clover to verify your domain first (Clover dashboard → Ecommerce → domain verification) and shows on Apple devices in Safari.
- Saved cards — customers can save a card for next time, and it works with WooCommerce Subscriptions.
- Tipping — Clover → Settings → Checkout lets you show tip options at checkout.
When a card is declined
The shopper sees a plain "Your card was declined. Please try another card or contact your bank." The exact reason from Clover is written into the order notes for you.
Test it
Add a $1 hidden product, buy it yourself, check the payment appears in Clover, then refund it from the order.
